He’s been described, “…a new evocative voice,” by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman. He has that rare, distinctive, velvet presence in his voice authentically from another place and time and yet, it is his own.
Displaying his talent in Los Angeles first, as a street performer, he now performs on stage with legends of Blues, Jazz and Pop.
Eddie was born in Kansas and has a strong musical heritage that began in his youth at the Baptist Church where his father was a pastor. Years earlier, the elder Wakes was approached by Lionel Hampton, who requested that he join his band as a vocalist. It’s safe to say that Eddie’s immense musical talents come from his lineage.
Eddie began his professional music career in 1998 to receptive audiences around the world. He has shared the stage with musical luminaries and icons like Diana Krall, Sarah McLachlan, Elvis Costello, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Davis Benoit, B.B. King, Linda Ronstadt and Nelson Riddle.
